This May long weekend (May 16 & 17), we invite you to join us at Haywire Winery for Bloom – Baking with Lavender, a gentle, sensory experience that brings together baking, wine, and the beauty of the season.

Spring in the Okanagan is a time of renewal. The days stretch a little longer, the light softens, and there’s a quiet invitation to gather, reconnect, and enjoy simple pleasures. Bloom is designed with that in mind, an opportunity to step away from the pace of everyday life and settle into something slower, more intentional.

Hosted in partnership with Summerland baker Beth Watt from Giants Head Kitchen, this intimate demonstration explores the delicate art of baking with culinary lavender. Together, we’ll walk through the creation of lavender shortbread and a light, floral icing for white cupcakes, discovering how this often-overlooked ingredient can add depth, aroma, and elegance to both sweet and savoury dishes.

Throughout the morning, guests will enjoy samples of freshly prepared lavender treats, alongside a curated selection of our Perfect Spring wines, including Haywire Pink Bub, Narrative Rosé, and Narrative White. Each wine has been chosen to complement the subtle floral notes of lavender, creating a pairing experience that feels both fresh and unexpected. Lavender-inspired non-alcoholic beverages will also be available. 

Every guest will leave with a collection of Beth’s recipes and a sachet of organic culinary lavender, grown at our Garnet Valley Ranch, a small reminder to carry the experience home and continue exploring.
